In line with the requests from our students, it has been deemed necessary to repeat the following explanations for our students who want to take the “Teaching Practice Course” within the Pedagogical Formation Education Program.

In accordance with the decision taken by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) regarding the provision of the Pedagogical Formation Education Program within the education-teaching processes of students at universities, starting from the 2022-2023 Spring semester, all kinds of opportunities are provided to our students who want to take the courses within the program within the framework of the procedures and principles determined by YÖK and the relevant regulations of the Ministry of National Education, in coordination with our university and the Provincial Directorate of National Education.

Within the scope of the Pedagogical Formation Education Program, our students are required to take 1st semester theoretical courses (4 courses) and 2nd semester theoretical courses (4 courses) and the “Teaching Practice Course”. There is no quota problem in the theoretical courses (a total of 8 courses) that our students are required to take within the program, meaning that all our students who wish can take these courses as Elective Courses.

However, according to the provisions of the relevant legislation, the Teaching Practice Course must be conducted by teachers who are in the relevant appointment field in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in our province and who have the “Teaching Practice Consultancy Training Course Certificate” (1 Teacher can supervise a MAXIMUM of 6 students). In addition, the capacity of the relevant schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and the number of practice teaching staff (teaching staff from the field of Educational Sciences) at our university must also be taken into account in determining the number of students who can benefit from the program.

In line with all these explanations, taking into account the number of teachers who have the qualifications to be consultants working in different appointment fields/branches in our province, efforts are meticulously carried out in coordination with the Burdur Provincial Directorate to ensure that the maximum number of our students can take the “Teaching Practice Course”. However, if there are not enough teachers in the appointment field in our province for students who want to take the “Teaching Practice Course”, it is mandatory to apply a quota. If a quota is applied, the following issues determined by our University Senate will be taken into consideration when determining the students who will take the course:

1) Students who have successfully completed all the courses of the Pedagogical Formation Education Program opened in the Fall semester of the 2023-2024 Academic Year will be given priority to take the Teaching Practice Course in the Spring Semester, and if there is a quota in the relevant field, these students will be ranked according to their GPA,

2) In units where the Teaching Practice Course quota is not filled, students will be ranked in order;

a) According to the GPA of students who have successfully completed 3 courses,

b) If the quota is not filled, according to the GPA of students who have successfully completed 2 courses,

c) If there are still vacant quotas, according to the GPA of students who have successfully completed 1 course,

3) It has been decided that students who have failed all courses in the Fall semester are not suitable to take the Teaching Practice Course, which is necessary for the training of qualified teacher candidates, as stated in the letter of the YÖK Education-Teaching Department dated 08.01.2024.

It is important to announce to our students.
